The Independent reports that the majority of UK now wants to stay in EU. Not surprising, the opinion of the UK was bound to change. Given the percentages voting leave/remain analysed by age group we can see a clear trend. Consequently, as younger people get the vote and as older voters go to meet the grim reaper we can see that he remain camp will have the day. Immediately after the referendum, analysis of voting propensity and mortality rates showed that with no additional revelations about the results of Brexit the vote would swing to remain by mid-2017.

That the swing happened sooner than predicted by age alone is not surprising, given that the leave side of the campaign was shown to have based its case on “industrial dishonesty” and those lies have now been laid bare for all to see.

A poll in October indicates a 53/47 vote in favour of remaining in then EU.
